The Los Angeles region is using the spotlight of FIFA World Cup 2026™ to educate, inspire, and grow the next generation of players, coaches, and referees.

The Grow the Game of Soccer Clinic Series is a community legacy program of the Los Angeles World Cup 2026 Host Committee, in collaboration with the Play Equity Fund, and delivered in partnership with the LA Galaxy.

This free clinic on May 9 will bring the soccer community together through a festival‑style experience that includes on‑field clinic programming designed specifically for youth players, grassroots coaches, and referees. Each group will participate in sessions tailored to their role in the game, while sharing in a day that celebrates learning, connection, and inspiring a lifelong love of soccer.

Referee Training

This unique clinic integrates referee instruction from Cal South trainers with youth development expertise from the CHJS Center for Healing and Justice Through Sport. Referees will receive training on how to apply trauma‑informed principles within the referee coaching and educational space, strengthening communication, decision‑making, and on‑field interactions with youth. In addition to meaningful learning, the clinic will feature fun activations, giveaways, food, and a celebratory atmosphere that brings the referee community together.

Rooted in the legacy of the FIFA World Cup, this clinic goes beyond skills and mechanics to emphasize youth development, a people‑first approach, and the joy of the game. The experience is designed to ensure that youth, coaches, and referees are not only building technical knowledge, but also learning how to connect as humans, create positive environments, and bring out the best in everyone, while having fun along the way.
