Our Association is made up of over 160 USSF certified referees living in and around the southwest portion of Los Angeles County, California. SBSRA provided referee crews for approximately 2850 matches in the 2017-2018 season and SBSRA expects to cover even more matches in the 2018-2019 season.  SBSRA provides referees for youth matches for the Southern California Development Soccer League (DSL) and the Coast Soccer League (CSL) leagues, two adult amateur mens leagues, Los Angeles J-League and South Bay Peninsula Soccer League (SBPSL), all Manhattan Beach 7v7, all Beverly Hills 7v7 matches, all City of Lawndale youth matches, CSL Spring League matches, DSL Spring League matches, State Cup and National Cup matches organized by CYSA-S, and numerous tournaments and “friendly” matches which are held throughout Southern California.  Since 2017 SBSRA has continued to grow its client base by adding several new leagues including Culver City YMCA League,  Mar Vista League, Aspire Juanita Tate Academy Charter School League, and the ZogSports League.  This is the most aggressive growth by SBSRA in its history and the current board is continuing to look for new clients and ways to grow work within its existing clients.

We meet regularly in a collegial setting to discuss soccer refereeing, receive training, and to conduct the business of the organization.  Our meetings include SBSRA business and Cal South lead monthly referee training.

In 2018, SBSRA is continuing to host the Cal South led Referee Professional Development (RPD) classes at North High School in Torrance.  This provides our members the advantage of a RPD training class in a convenient South Bay location.  SBSRA has been hosting RPDs since 2014 and is the only Referee Association teaming with Cal South by hosting RPDs.  Since starting to host RPDs, the number of SBSRA referee who have upgraded to USSF Grade 7 or higher has increased from less than 7% to over 50%, showing the association’s commitment to improving the quality of refereeing in Southern California.  Attendance at the SBSRA hosted monthly RDPs is averaging over 80 which made the Torrance RPDs the best attended RPD around.

Please spend some time surfing the SBSRA website and if you are interested in joining SBSRA, simply fill out an application and send it in.

We are proud of the services we provide to the soccer players and the overall soccer community.

Thank you for visiting. We hope you come back again soon, and if there is something more you would like to see on this site, please send our President an email.
